[Maine-birds] (probable) Brown Pelican - Ogunquit, 5/6

Hey everyone:

Just wanted to pass along this eBird report by John Hawkins of a Brown Pelican seen at Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, today (6 May 2017) around 1:00PM: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S36600277. I haven't heard any details yet but wanted to get it on everyone's radar.

This is especially interesting because Nathan Dubrow photographed a Brown Pelican at Crane Beach, MA this afternoon (http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S36597926) and Robert Sherman spotted one, almost certainly the same bird, in Annisquam, MA in the evening (http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S36601643).

It is possible the Ogunquit bird is the same as the one spotted in Massachusetts, or (hopefully) that there are multiple in the Gulf of Maine. Anyone on the lookout should check coastal areas like channel markers, buoys, breakwaters, or anywhere you would expect to see a cormorant roosting. Double-check those spots for a Brown Booby as well. ;)

Good birding!
