[Maine-birds] Thrushes on Seal Island National Wildlife Refuge

Hi all,

Back again for another season on Seal Island NWR working with Project Puffin. As a reminder the island is closed to the public but, I think that many of you enjoy hearing my reports.

Horrendous weather out on the island today but, we did enjoy a mini fallout of Swainson's Thrush. We conservatively estimated about 40 but, we didnt get the chance to cover the entire island. We also had around 5 Veery and at least 6 Gray-cheeked/ Bicknell's Thrush. We are still painfully trying to make them into one or the other but, nonetheless it was great to see this species out in the open. I was surprised to not see a single Hermit Thrush mixed in especially since in the past two years they have been far more common during the first two weeks of May compared to the other two mentioned species.

Good Birding!

Keenan
