Weather:
It was back to being raw, cold, and breezy today. Fitting for the season. Winds were persistent and from the northerly direction all day, which helped to cool the already low air temps. Cloud cover blocked any signs of the sun for the duration of the count. The lack of sun eliminated most of the heat distortion, which made for some of the most spectacular visibility yet, this season.

Raptor Observations:
Raptors were hard to come by today. Even local birds took the day off. One of the reasons I think I ended up with any migrants today, was due to the clear viewing conditions. On most other days, the birds counted today wouldn't have been detectable, or at least not recognizable.

Non-raptor Observations:
A few things were on the move in the morning hours. In the afternoon there was a small reverse migration of 67 Tree Swallows. Northbound migrants included: 65 Double-crested Cormorants 30 Duck Spp. 23 Common Mergansers 7 American Goldfinch 3 American Black Duck 2 Palm Warbler 1 Killdeer 1 Belted Kingfisher 1 Purple Finch

Predictions:
Tomorrow will remain cold, around the freezing mark. Winds will be coming mostly from the NE. The real threat to the count tomorrow is snow and sleet, which is currently predicted to be falling throughout the day. Time will tell how this all plays out.
