Weather:
Cold. Wind. Very gusty northwest winds became north by mid-day, and while the sustained wind speed reduced quite a bit by the end of the count, the gusts continued. High, thin, wispy clouds were few and far between, but even the April sun could only do so much to warm this airmass.

Raptor Observations:
Turkey Vultures were busy today, but mostly in the wobbling-to-stay-aloft-while-looking-for-dead-stuff kinda way. Deciphering migratory intentions on most were impossible. In the am, our local Red-shouldered Hawk was once again displaying, while it took until the last hour of the count to even spot a local Cooper's Hawk.

Non-raptor Observations:
A mere 21 species were seen and/or heard from the summit today. The only birds deemed migrating were two northbound Canada Geese in the morning and a southbound Eastern Bluebird in the afternoon.

Predictions:
A shortwave trough is expected to rotate through Maine, perhaps resulting in some rain or even snow showers late in the day. A southeasterly wind and increasing clouds will keep it well below normal tomorrow, both for degrees and migrant counts. But at least it won't be pushing everything that dares to fly out towards the coast. However, Zane is likely to have plenty of time to daydream about the late-week weather pattern shift.
