Re: [Maine-birds] Re: Red-bellied Woodpecker

Here is my story from eastern NH demonstrating again if you wait long enough and the weather keeps warming things will appear.

Amazingly, yesterday about 1 PM, while I was standing at the southwest corner of Lower Beech Pond in Tuftonboro, New Hampshire stuck in mucky mud about knee deep in water struggling to get my 6 horsepower motor out of a foot of mud, I heard for the first time in 82 years, a Red-bellied Woodpecker calling. Another sign of global warming.

Once, two years ago in late summer, I had a male  Northern Cardinal in late summer.

Tufted Titmice have made their way north to this spot years ago, and now breed there.

Pat,  I've had one at my feeder for the past few weeks, too-- for the first time in 46 years!  He arrives around 4 - 5PM, gobbling the sunflower seeds.  Doesn't seem interested in the suet.  My neighbors down on the  North River Road in Greene have had them regularly for the past few years, but up here on Clark Mountain, this is a first!
