Re: [Maine-birds] Hudsonian Godwit at Sabattus

The Godwit is still present in a different location, now on the far shore of the pond to the north of Riley road. At around (44.1287829, -70.0890093). It's visible by walking the shore from Riley Road, but probably not from sanborn. It was spotted by the Midcoast Audubon group. It's right on the waters edge, blending in surprisingly well with the teals and dabblers.

Turns out the little "park" right between road and the sandpit is in fact private.  We were asked (politely) by the owners' young grandson to respect that.  The owner lives in the small green house on the opposite side of F Sanborn Rd if anyone wants to ask permission.

>> During the Stanton bird walk this morning, Steve Reed found an Hudsonian Godwit at Sabattus Pond. It was on the sandspit seen from the private camp road entered on Access Road off of Wales / Pond Rd. This is a private dirt road best walked. The sandspit is the "usual" one adjacent to an empty lot and seen from the wood rail fence along the camp road at this point. The sandspit also had 100+ gulls. Pipits were seen in the area. Sabattus Pond is full of the usual fall ducks. While the camp road can be driven there is no parking space and with year round residents there is traffic. Parking is best at the entrance from Access Rd. along Railroad Rd.
