[Maine-birds] nighthawk and alewives

Last night while playing some basketball in the driveway with Evan I heard a Common Nighthawk call overhead twice—couldn’t see it though. This morning I could see some schools of migrating alewives in Cobbossee stream in downtown Gardiner and an Osprey was swooping in low repeatedly—all of this while the hustle and bustle of a busy downtown was going on all around.

If anyone is around tomorrow (Sat., June 2) and wants to chat about your favorite birds or to hear our stories  about birding in sub-zero temperatures in a VW Bug with no heat, about searching for Ivory-billed Woodpeckers amid poisonous snakes, about the Cornell Lab's failed attempt to employ a "secret weapon" in the World Series of Birding, and more, we will be at Derek and Jeanette’s Freeport Wild Bird Supply store from. 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 pm as the store introduces our book Maine’s Favorite Birds.
