Building a house in East Blue Hill and noted presence of an apparent hawk nest at the edge of site last year. Due to need for sun access for solar panels cleared many more trees than initially planned, to a layer of just a couple deep in front of the nest (though still untouched on all other sides). I have been watching with bated breath the arrival of a pair of Broad-winged Hawks ("There goes the neighborhood!" they must have thought to find their deforested surrounds), hoping they would not abandon the site. I have been checking as time allows, have seen their near-constant presence on or around the nest, and this am was thrilled to see 3 fuzzy yellowish heads peering up, already looking quite fierce with their hooked beaks. So the birds have thus far successfully bred in spite of heavy machinery and construction activity... not worth much, but I keep my fingers crossed for them.
