[Maine-birds] fledglings

Rose breasted Grosbeaks left their nest by my house last Thurs-6/14. One was perched on a branch acting not sure he/she wanted to be there!

Phoebe family on downspout are just about ready to leave-most likely this weekend, as are at least 6 of the tree swallow families in our field boxes.

WB Nuthatches have been out 2 1/2 weeks-4 youngsters careening around and chasing parents; B.Orioles youngsters moved out within the past 3 days-no activity at 2 nests.

Catbirds started new nest by river last week in an obvious place-3 eggs on Mon. Weds. night nest looked knocked apart-did not have chance to check but it was located by a well used predator path.

Bluebirds are now incubating a second set of eggs-had started in a bird house and were so secretive I did not know they were there until last eve.when I spotted the female hanging out for a bit of fresh air-was glad for them all when the sun set!

Thanks Peter for the update idea!  Sharon in West K.
