Hi all,
Additional observations of note from me over the past seven days included:
- 1 MARSH WREN, 1 Common Yellowthroat, 1 continuing "Yellow" Palm Warbler, 1 unidentified Palm Warbler, 1 Purple Finch, and 1 Brown-headed Cowbird, private property in Cape Elizabeth, 11/10.
- 1 GRAY CATBIRD, Village Crossings, Cape Elizabeth, 11/10.
- 1 YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, South Point Preserve, Biddeford Pool, 11/11.
- 1 imm. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Biddeford Pool neighborhood, 11/11.
- 1 continuing Common Yellowthroat and 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Saco Riverwalk, 11/11.
- 1 Fox Sparrow, our yard in Pownal, 11/11-12.
- 23 Snow Buntings, Hedgehog Mountain Park, Freeport, 11/13.
- 1 Red-necked Grebe, Lake Auburn, Auburn, 11/14.
- 100+ Horned Larks, Mayall Road, Gray/New Gloucester, 11/14.
- 1 Fox Sparrow and 1 Snow Bunting, Eastern Promenade, Portland, 11/15.
- other late migrants scattered about this week included small numbers of Hermit Thrushes, Swamp Sparrows, Common Grackles, and Red-winged Blackbirds.
"Greater Yarmouth Goose Fields" Update:
A nice surge of Canada Geese arrived this week, with a season-to-date high count of 941 on the 12th (with Jeannette). Still no rarities here, though, much to my chagrin! However, a glimpse of a bird on 11/14 just before it strolled down into a gully at Thornhurst Farm may have been a Cackler. Other migrants in and around the fields this week include a Turkey Vulture over Thornhurst on the 12th, and a single Pectoral Sandpiper continuing along Greely Road in Cumberland at least through the 12th.
