Today (Sat) was the best day this fall at my feeders and yard. Suddenly the birds descended en mass. Three to four times as many goldfinches and m. doves, the first song sparrow of the season, several house finches-the first since late summer. The Carolina wrens which first appeared last week made another visit. The yard was full of robins and cedar waxwings feeding on Zumi crabapples and euonymus berries, and best of all a red-bellied woodpecker, the last almost two years ago.
