[Maine-birds] N. waterthrush & Gr. egret Messalonskee Marsh

Hi Folks,

I spent about an hour at Messalonskee late this morning and

found a nice group of warblers with two pairs of phoebes all flycatching over a small pond on the edge of the marsh.  The pond is located along Rte. 27 about 150 yards before the small Belgrade Lakes welcome center located on the edge of the woods shorty before the boat launch.

To reach the edge of the marsh/pond, follow the small narrow road down to the edge of the marsh.  This spot is usually birdy bottomland forest and shrub species from late April through early July.

No purple martins at the colony yet.

I had a pine siskin in my yard on 8 Rod Road in Augusta this morning.

Good birding,

Norm Famous
