[Maine-birds] Snowy Owl in Readfield, Yes on Solitaire

There is a snowy owl perched on a fence post at Bellevue Farm in Readfield.  The farm is located just south of the intersection of Route 17 and the Plains Road. There is not a lot of parking and the cars go speeding by so be careful if you stop.    Please respect the farmer's no trespassing signs and stay along the road.  The owl was to the left of the main building on a fence post.  I could see it well enough with binoculars but wished I had my scope.

Earlier today I saw the Townsend's Solitaire at Florida Lake thanks to directions from Doug Suitor.

Sorry for the lack of details in my previous post – I was standing there watching it and thumbing the message on my phone.

Attached is a photo by Don Cameron of the bird.  It was still there at 9:15 AM when I left.

The location is the old AMHI campus on the east side of the Kennebec in Augusta.  Take Hospital St. south until you see the old brick buildings on the west side of the road.  The DEP building has a sign out front and the word "Ray" on the side of the building.  The bird is not visible from Hospital St as it is perched behind the southernmost cupola on the building.  There is ample parking so just find a spot there and walk behind the Ray building.  It is clearly visible from there.

The bird was originally found by Liz Hertz at DACF who thoughtfully called me and several others.  Great way to start the work day (I suppose by not working?).
