[Maine-birds] Popham in the evening

a few more than a dozen pros, amateurs and in-betweeners gathered at Popham Beach at High Tide this evening for work and pleasure. A bit slow to get going, but then Popham showed its stuff. Among the shorebirds slowly growing in the lagoon were:

2 Red Knots
2 very cooperative Baird's Sands, posing
1 R Turnstone juvie
16 GYLegs
36 LYLegs (most of whom snuck in to the grass at the end of the lagoon, late)
60+ BBPlovers
1 Am Golden Plover
1 SBDowitcher
2 Whimbrels
1 Least Sandpiper
?? Semi Sands (fewer than before the front)
?? Semi Plovers
Sanderlings - fly-bys mostly

Several large flights of DCCormorants - early season
and of course a Merlin raising hell offshore on Fox Island, then strafing the lagoon at sunset.
