An adult Townsend's Solitaire was photographed at Schoodic Point
this morning at 8:13 AM. The bird was first spotted perched atop a nearby
spruce tree, about 50 feet from me just off the west end of the parking area.
It then flew from tree top to tree top, stopping 3 times before advancing
toward the SERC campus. It was last seen at 8:18 AM.
Photos to follow later this morning.
Just prior to the TOSO, we were watching a family of river otters
off the point near a flotilla of common eider which was being watched
by a gray seal !
The migratory flight this morning was fairly low key compared to yesterday.
However, Red-throated Loon outnumbered Common Loon for the second
day in a row.
With an eye to the sky…...
