Hi all,
Here are a few more observations of note from me over the past seven days:
- 22 White-winged Crossbills, Old Town House Park, North Yarmouth, 11/3 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
- 1 female Red-winged Blackbird, feeders here at the store, 11/3.
- Reid State Park, Georgetown, 11/6 (with Jeannette):
1 WHITE-EYED VIREO (working the Bayberry hedge along the road through the saltmarsh on the way to Todd's Head)
1 FORSTER'S TERN
4+ White-winged Crossbills
2+ Red Crossbills
45 Red-necked Grebes
56 Sanderlings
- 2 PINE GROSBEAKS (First of year, and incredibly early), Hedgehog Mountain Park, Freeport, 11/7.
- 1 dark immature Pomarine Jaeger, 8 Black-legged Kittiwakes, and 2 Razorbills, Dyer Point, Cape Elizabeth, 11/8.
- 7 White-winged Crossbills, Hidden Pond Preserve, Freeport, 11/9.
- 1 Evening Grosbeak, our yard in Pownal, 11/9.
And the goose fields update for this week:
- An uptick in Canada Geese late this week produced the high count 890 on 11/9, after a recent low of 478 on 11/7.
- The Greater White-fronted Goose has not been seen this week.
- Horned Larks continue in the fields, along with an American Pipit on Cross Road in Cumberland on 11/9.
- A Pied-billed Grebe continues in the pond on Woodville Road in Falmouth.
