[Maine-birds] Grand Lake Stream

I had the pleasure of tagging along with a bird walk led by Woody Gillies
of Fundy Audubon and Colin Brown of Downeast Lakes Land Trust in Grand
Lake Stream yesterday morning.

Pine Siskins everywhere, all over the village. Estimate 300. Probably 100
goldfinches. Scores of red crossbills, but no white-winged. NOISY all
morning.

Oddest sighting: Belted Kingfisher in the open water below the fish
hatchery. There was also a Carolina Wren calling near the school building.
It has been reported in the area all season, though usually on the other
side of the river where it had been visiting a feeders.
