[Maine-birds] SMCC/Spring Point Trail (nocturnal): Black-crowned Night Herons & Short-billed Dowitchers

On the rocks just below the small area with picnic tables adjacent to the fenced-in marina, shortly before 10 PM there were 2 Black-crowned Night Herons (1 adult & 1 in subadult plumage) clearly seen under artificial light & moonlight.   They flew in as I walked my dog, sat still in the open and then flushed as we walked by.   Heard overhead were at least 4 Short-Billed Dowitchers in what sounded like 2 small flocks one after the other, flying fairly low and calling a rapid "tewtewtew".  5 total species seen or heard.  List: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S45883418
