Visitors:
18 people visited the hawk watch today.
Weather:
Warm, sunny spring day with great visibility; Warmest day on the summit this season. The day began with moderate northeast winds shifting northwest through the day.
Raptor Observations:
Winds were a bit stronger than desirable today, but determined migrants were still pushing through. Broad-winged Hawks are the most prominently observed species at this point in the season.
Non-raptor Observations:
Many Tree Swallows were observed migrating through today. 32 species were observed from the summit. Individuals deemed migrating included: 1 Common Merganser 1 Purple Finch 67 Yellow-rumped Warblers 193 Double-crested Cormorant 6 Barn Swallows 297 Tree Swallows 39 blackbird sp.
Predictions:
Another warm day with a lot more clouds in the sky. Light southwest winds in the morning, shifting south by afternoon and southeast by the end of the day. I'm expecting a pretty good flight tomorrow, especially early in the day, if predicted conditions hold.
