[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights and New Arrivals, 5/9-15

Hi all,

My observations of note over the past seven days included the following:

- 15 species of warblers, led by 13 each of Yellow-rumped, Black-and-white, and Common Yellowthroat, Florida Lake Park, Freeport, 5/11 (with Jeannette).

- 1 Prairie Warbler, Bradbury Mountain Spring Hawkwatch, 5/14: my 140th Patch Bird!

- 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, our yard in Pownal, 5/14: our 128th Yard Bird!

- 15 species of warblers, led by 19 Common Yellowthroats and 16 Yellow-rumped Warblers and including 1 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, Morgan Meadow WMA, 5/15.

- 1 LITTLE EGRET, (my first sighting this year, but I have not gone looking) Tidewater Farm Preserve, Falmouth, 5/15 (about 6pm)

And my personal first of years this week were:

- 1 Great-crested Flycatcher, our yard in Pownal, 5/11

- 1 Wood Thrush, Florida Lake Park, 5/11 (with Jeannette).

- 2 Solitary Sandpipers, Florida Lake Park, 5/11 (with Jeannette).

- 2 Magnolia Warblers, Florida Lake Park, 5/11 (with Jeannette).

- 1 Spotted Sandpiper, Florida Lake Park, 5/11 (with Jeannette).

- 1 American Redstart, Florida Lake Park, 5/11 (with Jeannette).

- 1 Canada Warbler, Florida Lake Park, 5/11 (with Jeannette).

- 1 Bobolink, Highland Road, Brunswick, 5/11.

- 1 Bank Swallow, Florida Lake Park, 5/13.

- 1 Wilson's Warbler, Florida Lake Park, 5/13.

- 1 Green Heron, Old Town House Park, North Yarmouth, 5/14.

- 3 Warbling Vireos, Old Town House Park, 5/14.

- 1 CAPE MAY WARBLER, Bradbury Mountain Spring Hawkwatch, 5/14.

- 1 Indigo Bunting, Bradbury Mountain Spring Hawkwatch, 5/14.

- 1 Chimney Swift, Bradbury Mountain Spring Hawkwatch, 5/14.

- 2 Chestnut-sided Warblers, Morgan Meadow WMA, 5/15.

- 2 Veeries, Morgan Meadow WMA, 5/15.

- 2 Swainson's Thrushes, Morgan Meadow WMA, 5/15.

- 1 EVENING GROSBEAK, Morgan Meadow WMA, 5/15.

- 1 Scarlet Tanager, yard here at the store, 5/15.
