Re: [Maine-birds] Steller’s Sea-Eagle: 2:10AM update

Passing along a report that the sea-eagle is being seen "Perched on small island southeast from beach. Distant views" from Reid State Park.

At 1:40PM the Steller's Sea-Eagle took off from Mink Island (of Five Islands) and we watched it fly about as far off as we could see toward the south.

Who knows, but probably passing Reid State Park about now…

Good birding,

We were just notified all of Moore's Turnpike is private property and no birders are allowed down that road.

The bird reportedly just moved towards Crow Island (9:45AM) so going to the Five Islands wharf is the best bet for now.

Good luck!

Right before you get to the wharf, just after the big public parking lot, take a left on schoolhouse Road. After less than half a mile take a right on North End Rd. After a few hundred yards, take a right on moores turnpike Road. Follow that to the end, where the co-op is, and everyone is here. It's an icy, narrow, snowy private road.

Hi all,
Several dozen of us are here at Five Islands, Georgetown. Nothing yet, but fog is just starting to lift.

Doug Hitchcox, who began this morning's vigil here, and I were just chatting about where to post updates, and for now, we're going to use the Listserve. At least until we have more positive news.

There are more than enough eyes here, so if you're on your way, broadening the search might be helpful.

Stay tuned,
Derek
