To those of you who may not see cardinals at your feeders, I suggest that you watch carefully from about 15 minutes after sunset til dark. Cardinals often come only at that time. I was reminded of that today beginning my first feederwatch of the season. Although cardinals do show up during the day, in the past few weeks I have seen none. I decided to give it the just before dark test and was rewarded when a pair showed up. Although there are plenty of m. doves during the day they too will often show up late. Tonight there was one when it was so dark I could barely see it.
