RE: [Maine-birds] birds

Something I’ve seen on more than one occasion: the kingfisher as the harasser. One time, near Moosehead, I watched a merlin and kingfisher harassing each other. Whenever one would get a slight advantage in position, it would chase the other. I’d say they were evenly matched because no harm was done to either. Then two weeks ago while in Louisiana, I watched a kingfisher trying to drive off a sharp-shinned hawk. They can be cheeky little buggers.

kingfisher  was in levant being harassed by a small hawk.  I thought the kingfishers had left!  Diana in south unity
