Re: [Maine-birds] Gannets galore

The same circumstances (and species) Bill describes are occurring on the Schoodic side of Frenchman Bay today as well.
The beginning stretch of auto loop from Frazer Point to Schoodic Point has gannets coursing and actively diving very near shore.
The surf is quite spectacular too. Bold crashing high spray waves, in some locations splashing over the entire road!

A continuous steam of adult Gannets passing by Ocean Drive in Acadia NP at 9 a.m. this morning.  Some are within 100 ft. of shore off Thunder Hole and Otter Cliffs.  Red-necked Grebes and Common Loons also flying by.
