[Maine-birds] Cackling Goose at Shawmut Dam

Bruce Barker, Bruce Cole and myself birded the Shawmut Dam on the Kennebec this afternoon and spotted what we believe was a Cackling Goose on the far side of the river.  Seen from the dam by the parking area off the end of the Kennebec Road in Shawmut.
We watched this bird fly off with a flock of Canadas towards the Flood Farm fields in Clinton and attempted to relocate it but could not.  There were, however, 700+ Canada Geese in the fields.  Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

A couple of Northern Shovelers north of the dam as well and a flock of 120 Horned Larks in the farm fields were other birds of note.

Good Birding,
John
