[Maine-birds] Last Belfast Bay census for the season

It was a nice day to end our season.  Highlights were the returns of Double-crested Cormorant, Osprey, and Common Merganser.  The numbers of Mallards and Herring Gulls decreased markedly from the numbers seen on previous censuses, probably indicating that the birds are dispersing to their nesting grounds.  Curiously, there was a sharp uptick in the numbers of Ring-billed Gulls.  We usually find a handful of this species and occasionally as many as 30, but this time there were 63 adults.
