Although the harsh afternoon light conditions weren't optimal for viewing, I spent about an hour at Weskeag at the parking area and trail observation platform: in addition to mallards, black ducks and CAGOs, 80+ green-winged teal, including one Euro drake, 3 pintails, 2 American wigeon. One small flock of teal survived a brief peregrine attack, where the slightly scattered flock assembled into a tight formation. The attack left them all peeping and squeaking (with relief?) among themselves. Shorebirds: 1 lesser yellowlegs, 1 killdeer, 1 woodcock (in middle of woods trail.) Also a kingfisher, American bittern and eastern phoebe.
