Tree Swallows arrived this morning. Here is the arrival log for the last four years at their summer home at the farm on the banks of the Sebasticook River:
April 9, 2014
April 11, 2013
April 9, 2012
April 12, 2011
We have 15 nest/boxes. Clean them today. All were used last year.
Sebasticook River just opened up here the last two days. Today there are big islands of ice moving quickly down river. Multiple ducks and geese up and down the river. Great Blue Heron sighted flying across a field coming from the river April 7th. Osprey on the power line nest on the Garland Rd side of the Sebasticook. This is the same power line where Louis Bevier reported sighting the Osprey on the nest on the Rt 100 side of the river recently.
Kestrel's were back April 7th. Nesting again in the barn eves.
Phoebe is nesting in the shed again.
American Goldfinches and multiple Sparrows are all over the place.
Have not sighted any Blue Birds yet. They usually arrive about 1 week before the Tree Swallows.
