Happy to report that the drake King Eider was present today around the outgoing tide at Blue Hill Falls. There were numerous Common Eiders, perhaps 300, and about 20 Purple Sandpipers as well. The Eider can be seen right at the reversing falls, in amongst the other Eiders. The birds are a bit skittish, perhaps due to the fact that there have been some hunters in the area; but they ultimately came in quite close.
