Re: [Maine-birds] Townsends Solitaire

Townsend's Solitaire continuing as of 1:00 pm 12/1/14.

Keeps feeding on the berry bushes on an island in the middle of the lake and then flying back to trees around the two tallest pines near trail.

Hawk in the area scared it into the trees for about an hour, but with patience it re-emerged.

We got to Florida Lake around 2pm yesterday, and were lucky to spot the bird right away. It stayed around for at least half an hour, and allowed for some great looks and some ok pics (can be seen here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/travelingpigeon/sets/72157649131195188/). It had a very predictable behavior - moving from a couple of perches on a pine tree, where it would stay for a few minutes, to the berry bushes to pick one (and just one) berry, and back.

Thank you all for sharing and for the precise directions!
