There are still spaces open on Maine Audubon's Fall Pelagic trip out of Bar Harbor this Saturday (12 September). The variable weather of this week looks like it will clear up just in time for "mostly sunny" conditions on Saturday with a light north wind that'll get those birds on the wing. Forecasted seas are less than half of what they were last year ;) and we all managed great looks at both skuas in that.
Speaking of skuas, there have been an uptick in sightings of both flavors of skuas over the last week+ in the waters off Bar Harbor and east towards New Brunswick. We've been fortunate to see both species of skuas, among the impressive counts of shearwaters, storm-petrels, phalaropes, and other pelagic specialties the last couple years so I hope you can join us this Saturday!
Good birding,
Doug Hitchcox
