I spent a couple hours at Pine Point in Scarborough (http://ebird.org/ebird/hotspot/L353732) looking for some of the rarities that have been reported lately. Overall numbers were fairly low but diversity was pleasing. Here are a few highlights:
American Golden-Plover - flyover while the tide was still fairly high
'Western' Willet - continuing with 3 'Eastern' Willets
Western Sandpiper - flew in with a group of Semis just after 10
Caspian Tern - pair flew up river but crossed over the marsh heading further south

Also for fun this morning were a few of the less common mammals. A small rodent, presumably a Meadow Vole was making all sorts of noise from the vegetation covering the rocks along the upper beach. I've heard them in Biddeford before but it was nice to get this recording: https://soundcloud.com/dhitchcox/meadow-vole-scarborough-me-7-sep-2015 A few minutes after that, a Stoat (Ermine/Short-tailed Weasel/Mustela erminea) came slinking through the same batch of rocks, apparently not finding the vole but continuing through the adjacent yards: https://www.flickr.com/photos/113213944@N04/20597182684/
Good birding,
