[Maine-birds] American White Pelican--Sebasticook Lake

My husband and I went to Sebasticook Lake this afternoon and while we were watching mallards and ruddys fly in a huge white bird flew in with them and landed in the cove. It was an American White Pelican. We stayed for 30 minutes watching it feed.

Directions: We went up Rte 7 from Rte 2 out of Newport and took the Benson camp Rd just after the Ford dealership. About a 1/4 mi down there's an ATV trail. We parked on the side of the road and walked up the trail which takes you closer to the cove where the pelican was.

Also, this morning my husband was paddling up the Serpentine to East Pond in Smithfield when he had 10 Sandhill Cranes fly overhead. Yesterday there was a Sandhill Crane in a field on the flats in Norridgewock on Rte 8.
