[Maine-birds] 5-26-13 / Kittery Point, Fort Foster / Summer Tanager, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 18 Warbler Species...

Folks,

The subject heading pretty much says it all, Fort Foster (in Kittery,
ME) was quite active this morning! I birded from 8:30am to about 1pm,
at which point NW winds were really kicking up, the bird activity had
slowed substantially, and I knew a plate of Huevos Rancheros at The
Golden Egg in Newcastle, NH were waiting for me. Despite the lazy
start time (hey, it was kinda cold this morning), within 15 minutes I
had already tallied 12 singing warbler species along the entrance
road! Eventually, virtually every species encountered was viewed
exceptionally well (save one*)! Highlights included (in no particular
order with a conservative albeit subjective general impression /
estimate of their relative abundance):

Red-eyed Vireo (18)
Scarlet Tanager (3)
Black-throated Green Warbler (5)
American Redstart (14)
Magnolia Warbler (12)
Blackpoll Warbler (10)
Black and White Warbler (6)

female)
