[Maine-birds] Unity area birds

Nice to see a flock of almost 200 Bohemian Waxwings show up at Unity College today.  They were feeding in the multiflora thickets on the north side of Quaker Hill Rd.  Walking through the thickets, I was surprised to find a lingering Hermit Thrush which is very unusual for the area in winter.

The Rough-legged Hawk that was found on our Christmas count has remained at the 25 Mile Stream wetland next to the stream on Prairie Rd in Unity.  To the south Knox Ridge is still hosting up to a dozen eagles attracted by the compost.  No gulls of interest lately nor any of the other eagle species....

Good birding,
tom
