This evening there was an adult BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON on the SMCC Campus, on the mini-beach between the marina and the fish pier, very close to the walking trails. Jeff :Webb had reported one still here less than a week ago, but I was surprised that it would still be around. Reported on eBird but I will be surprised if they accept it, based on two other current sightings I've reported there.
I re-reported 2 CATTLE EGRETS on the 10th from Wells Road but the eBird hotspot hasn't updated although I photographed and took notes on the three I saw on the 7th, my previous visit. List https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S49744969 . On the 10th I drove around a couple of times looking for the third, but it was nowhere in sight and the remaining 2 appeared to be sheltering themselves from the cold near some buildings. So the last sighting of rarities which I saw and submitted notes on only 3 days earlier was excluded by eBird for some reason (sunspots?)
Finally a late LINCOLN'S SPARROW seen by Jeff and myself at Crescent Beach on Sunday Nov. 11th was feeding along the paths with an American Tree Sparrow and a Junco (additionally 2 Savannahs were seen at Kettle Cove the same day). A species I've seen dozens of times and am quite familiar with, though they are sometimes hard to get a camera on in a brushy area...in my lifetime I've only gotten one ID-able photo of a Lincoln's, ever.. Again, eBird won't allow the hotspot to be updated even though 2 of us saw this bird at close range and I submitted notes...
