Visitors:
34 visitors today. 2 RC trucks.

Weather:
The first half of the day was incredibly gusty. Winds were out of the northwest all day. A little bit of cloud cover at the start but we ended with a blue sky. Temps were comfortable, ranging from 41 to 52 degrees.

Raptor Observations:
Today was an AWESOME day! En route to the hawkwatch, I received a message that broad-wings were streaming north over Yarmouth, low over the canopy. I hustled up to the summit and, as I was setting up, I could see broad-wings flying past. Most birds were staying low, avoiding the brunt of the stiff northwest wind. Half of our Broad-wings were sighted in the first hour. At around 10:10 am, I noticed a raptor over the summit of Little Bradbury, I initially could only see the head-on silhouette. I noticed a little bump on the back. As it turned and quickly streamed out of site, I ID'd it as a Peregrine Falcon. Amazingly, I got a clear view of a GPS unit attached to the birds back, including an antenna! I'm going to try to figure out who banded the bird, and will report back. -Note: We counted our 4,000th migrant raptor today.

Non-raptor Observations:
Migrants: -Double-crested Cormorant: 30 -Yellow-rumped Warbler: 6 -Tree Swallow: 7 -American Goldfinch: 5 -Red Crossbill: 5 Other sightings included FOS Black-throated Green Warbler. FOS Skunk made everyone pretty nervous for about 30 seconds. -A total of 16 species detected from the summit.

Predictions:
Warm tomorrow! Tomorrow morning will be great conditions, blue skies and southwest winds. Winds will be moderate and will rotate to the west by lunchtime. Sky cover will increase as the day goes on.
