Mount Desert Island Birds   June 17, 2012  Least Flycatcher

Eagle Lake Overlook Cadillac Mountain, Hancock, US-ME

Protocol: Stationary
Comments: Jeanne Hay, Tom, Owen and Jackson for a first trip up Cadillac for the boys and an excellent listening stop on the side of Cadillac Mountain. Interesting to find an ALDER FLYCATCHER calling from this location. I will check again in a few days to see if it is still here. There must be a wetland/water source,. Nashville Warbler  found at higher elevation than expected.

Winter Wren (Troglodytes hiemalis) 1 calling in the valley below
Hermit Thrush (Catharus guttatus) 1
American Robin (Turdus migratorius) 1 calling
Nashville Warbler (Oreothlypis ruficapilla) 1 a male calling half way up the mountain. I have found this bird high in the mountains at two locations. Here and Beech Mountain
