[Maine-birds] Blue Grosbeak Biddeford

Between bouts of rain today I did some birding around Biddeford Pool. Best bird was a female/juvenile BLUE GROSBEAK feeding on some ornamental grass just down the street from the entrance to East Point Sanctuary. Lots of scoters of all three species (hundreds of each) heading south, along with decent numbers of Gannets and both loons, some still in breeding plumage. Red-necked Grebe numbers are up, as are Red-breasted Mergansers. Four Brant were briefly glimpsed flying around Wood Island. A single Black Guillemot was hanging out with the Eiders, and a single White-rumped Sandpiper was in with the Semipalmated Sandpipers, Sanderlings and Dunlin.

Pine siskin numbers are down, just a single bird around the pool.

Good Birding
