With the light to moderate W to NW winds over the state the last 3 or 4 days, you'd think birds would be piled up along the coast. Dawn this morning was FAC at Hermit and the lite breezes last night were insufficient to produce anything spectacular. Nevertheless, a few flocks came in off the Gulf, again featuring mostly Robins.
But also in the mix were several flocks of WWCrossbills, and better-seen Rusty Blackbirds. A Peregrine Falcon was carrying the mail across the peninsula, heading offshore, with rather quick wingbeats. Photos of a Swainson's Thrush among the 24 or so Hermit Thrushes. Otherwise, slow and steady for 4 hours. Dawn offshore featured streaming rows of scoters. WW and Black Scoters building off Joe's Head. This morning might have been better spent sea-watching. Vis was A-1.
