[Maine-birds] Interior Nelson's Sparrow, Ipswich Sparrow, Cape Elizabeth

At Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth Thursday afternoon the first bird I saw upon leaving the parking lot was an interior-type Nelson's Sparrow, in typical sharp-tailed sparrow habitat: a dry shrubby hillside by a small wooded ravine. I also found a banded Ipswich Sparrow (metal USFWS-type band on right leg), often foraging alongside a "regular" Savannah Sparrow, just to make the point how big it was. Highlight, though, was a non-avian reptile, a cooperative Ring-necked Snake. Photos of all are here:
