While Robby and crew were busy banding this morning, I was happily getting a very wet butt in the midst of a (dare I say?) fallout of migrants. Dominated by hundreds of Myrtle Warblers (I checked the chins of all that I saw), There were also good numbers of Palm Warblers (all yellow), a few Pine Warblers, good bunch of Purple Finches, BH Vireos (and a solo Warbling V), YB Sapsuckers, RC Kinglets, etc. The sparrows seemed to be led by Swampies, and only a single Lincoln's.
While looking at a passing flock of Wood Ducks, I noticed the stratosphere above them was loaded with larger birds by the dozens, probably Robins. In a morning like today, you really don't need to find anything very rare. What a neat place!
