Peter Vickery called to say that the American White Pelican departed
Maquoit Bay in a SW direction at about 12:00 noon. This was judged to
be a solid departure and direction--down coast. Folks might recall a
scenario posted by Nick Bonomo in 2009, when a flock of White Pelicans
were followed down the Connecticut coast
(http://www.shorebirder.com/2009/12/126-american-white-pelicans-long.html).
They traveled at 18 mph, calculated as they passed vantages and
birders waiting for them. So start your clock, open Google Earth, and
calculate where to intercept it. There's time to get to Dyer Point for
passage there...
