Can we please avoid the cat vs. birds thread? Or at least take it off-list?

Subject: [Maine-birds] Off-topic, perhaps. Feral cats
I just want to encourage all the members of this listserv to take action in whatever way you can to help reduce the number of feral cats in this country. I think a link to this article from the NY Times has already been posted, so I'm just adding it here for anyone who may have missed it. I would also like to add that I have become disgusted with a group I have supported in the past. That is Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. They do a great deal of wonderful work, but they are stubbornly continuing to support trap, neuter, and release programs for feral cats. I don't like to promote the wholesale slaughter of any animals, but this problem requires a more permanent solution. If you would care to address your concerns to Best Friends, their e-mail address is editor@bestfriends.org. Their CEO is Gregory Castle. Their physical address is 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah, 84741.
Here is the link for the Times article if you missed it:http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/30/science/that-cuddly-kitty-of-yours-is-a-killer.html?_r=0
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
