[Maine-birds] Pacific Loon

Eight northern birders from the Penobscot Valley Chapter of Maine Audubon went south yesterday, enjoying the nice weather along the coast from Nubble Light to Two Lights. The highlight was a distant Pacific Loon off Cliff House – the third I’ve seen there over the years.

And, my, aren’t the Harlequin Ducks getting plentiful now? Besides the usual places (Nubble, Cliff House, Marginal Way, Dyer Point) we also saw one at Kettle Cove. We picked up a couple distant Razorbills at Dyer Point, but no alcids more unusual than that. A single Iceland Gull was present in the usual place next to Hannafords in South Portland.
