[Maine-birds] Large Hawk over Somes Sound - need help with ID

Thank you all who made the Merlin ID for me this week. Now I need your help again!
This afternoon I watched a huge hawk over Somes Sound. I was sitting on the stone bench by the Millpond at the Somesville Library. I've seen many Bald Eagles and Osprey here but this did not look like those. (Although I could be wrong, of course). I wonder if it could be a Broad-winged Hawk. I described what I could see and the flight pattern and posted two photos at: http://acadiabirds.wordpress.com/
These photos are not good ones like those of the Merlin. This bird was far away, swooping, circling and finally being driven down toward the open end of the Sound by gulls.
This all happened at 3:30 this afternoon. The bird can't be too far away, around Northeast Harbor or Southwest Harbor, maybe, or maybe it came back to the good fishing at Somesville.
