I forgot to mention this. The other day I was driving to the Alewives in Newcastle and as I was rounding a corner and beneath a big oak was snowless ground. On this snowless ground were about 50 mallards. An odd spot for them for sure. It wasnt near water nor was it open. But the mallards were eating acorns. It was like they were in a frenzy. Flopping around with there webbed feet chasing each other to get to the next acorn. I have never seen anything like it.
