Jeff Webb and I birded Essex St. Marsh this afternoon and found 16-18 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS near the Essex St. entrance side of the trail. They were keeping low in the thickets of short trees but making a lot of noise (squeakier and higher-pitched than the Redwings staking out the nearby taller trees). We got some great looks when most of them flew up into a poplar briefly before taking off across the marsh.
