[Maine-birds] Messalonskee Yellow-rump, WW xbill

Hi folks,

I went to Messalonskee Marsh an a couple of nearby roads from 2:15 to about 4:30 this afternoon.  Waterfowl numbers have increased since earlier in the week.

The more interest birds or numbers include the following:

Miscellaneous Non-waterfowl

White-winged crossbill  1
Yellow-rumped warbler  1
Pine warbler  1
Sandhill crane  1
Pied-billed grebe  1
Glaucous gull  1  first cycle
Winter wren  1
Brown creeper  1 (singing)
Purple finch  1
Eastern phoebes ~10 (scattered)
Belted kingfisher  2
Tree swallow  4
Osprey  1
Bald eagle  1 (imm)
Domestic chicken  1 crowing
Northern cardinal  1
Black-capped chickadee  12
Juncos  4
Song sparrow  4
White-breasted nuthatch  1
Red-winged blackbird  ~50
Common grackle  ~10
Mourning dove  1
Hairy woodpecker  1
American robin  2
American goldfinch  1
American crow  6
Common raven  1

Waterfowl
Ring-necked duck  ~225+ (high number
Common merganser  ~115 (high number)
Green-winged teal  12
American black duck  14
Mallard  8
Bufflehead  6
Common goldeneye  10
Hooded merganser  14
Canada geese  ~90  There were about 20-25 pairs scattered through the marsh plus a slug of geese sitting on the edge of the ice
