[Maine-birds] Another Green Point

Green Point Preserve, a holding of Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, is in West Bath , situated on a point that protrudes into the upper apex of Winnegance Bay. It is dominated by old, tall Spruce, with some White Pine, but few deciduous trees. Virtually all of the saplings are spruce. On yesterday's "Flash-Birding" walk, we found most of all of the local nesters (maybe), including singing Winter Wren. Off the point, there was a gathering of 48 Surf Scoters, presumably staging here for continued migration.

In addition to its incredible beauty, this spot will provide an EZ snowshoe walk in mid-winter to the point, where huge aggregations of wintering waterfowl can be scoped. Barrow's Goldeneyes are particularly numerous here.
